Huellitas is a ritual oil created for the animals we have loved, lost, and still carry with us.

In contemporary Día de los Muertos observance, October 27 has become associated with remembering deceased pets and welcoming their spirits home, with families creating pet ofrendas containing photographs, candles, flowers, favorite toys, food, water, collars, and other things connected to the animals they loved. This particular October 27 observance is a newer tradition rather than an ancient or universal Día de los Muertos custom, but the sentiment behind it fits beautifully within the larger season of remembrance: they were family, too.

Huellitas—little paw prints—was created for that love.

It is intended for pet ofrendas, remembrance altars, memorial candles, and personal rituals honoring beloved animal companions who have passed. The work isn't centered on grief alone, but on the bond that remains after an animal is gone: the routines you still remember, the places you expect to find them, the ridiculous little things they did, and the particular kind of love that existed between you.

And there is one tiny detail in the fragrance that is there entirely because I couldn't resist it: chocolate.

Chocolate is dangerous for dogs and many other animals in life, so it's something we spend their lives keeping away from them. I added just a whisper of chocolate to Huellitas for the ones who have crossed over—because they can have it now.

Each bottle is handcrafted, ritually worked, and magically charged as part of The Brewery Co.'s Día de los Muertos 2026 Collection, combining flowers and herbs associated within this formula with love, remembrance, comfort, and welcoming with a soft, familiar fragrance meant to feel less like mourning and more like coming home.

Huellitas contains a gentle botanical blend selected specifically around love, memory, comfort, peace, and the enduring bond between people and their animal companions.

Featured ingredients include Catnip, Rosemary, Rose, Calendula, Chamomile, Lavender, and Cempasúchil Petals.

Catnip was chosen as a small nod to the animals themselves, while rosemary centers remembrance and the preservation of memory. Rose speaks to enduring love; chamomile and lavender bring peaceful, comforting qualities to the work; and calendula adds warmth and tenderness.

Cempasúchil connects Huellitas to the Día de los Muertos collection and the imagery of flowers creating a bright, welcoming path home.

Every ingredient was intentionally selected to make this oil feel like what it is meant to be: a love letter to an animal who is still part of your family, even if you can no longer hold them.

Huellitas was designed to smell soft, comforting, outdoorsy, and familiar—warm oatmeal, milk and honey against fresh grass and cool morning air, touched with cempasúchil and the tiniest hint of chocolate.

The creamy oatmeal, milk, and honey form the heart of the fragrance, giving it a cozy, almost home-like warmth. Fresh-cut grass and crisp morning air bring in the smell of being outside—the yard, the walk, the grass under their paws—while a trace of cempasúchil ties the fragrance back to the flowers of Día de los Muertos.

And beneath it all is that tiny bit of chocolate.

Because they can have it now.

How to Use

For a pet ofrenda or remembrance altar:

Use Huellitas to dress a memorial candle or anoint appropriate altar objects associated with your pet. Place their photograph alongside things that belonged to them or remind you of them—their collar or tag, favorite toy, favorite food, water, flowers, or anything else that feels unmistakably theirs.

For remembrance work:

Use while speaking their name, telling stories about them, writing them a letter, looking through photographs, or simply spending time remembering the life you shared. This oil does not need to be used only during Día de los Muertos; it can be incorporated into memorial work on an anniversary, birthday, adoption day, or whenever you want to intentionally make space for them.

Huellitas is a ritual oil for humans to use in remembrance of animals. It is not intended to be applied to living pets, added to their food or water, or used where they may lick or ingest it.

About This Collection

This collection is for everyone. You do not have to be Mexican or Hispanic to honor your dead, remember the people you love, or find meaning in these traditions. But being welcomed into another culture comes with a responsibility to respect it—to learn where these traditions come from, honor the people who have carried them, listen to and elevate the voices of those within that culture, and embrace the culture rather than separating the beautiful parts from the people they belong to.
