Dark Persephone is a deity anointing oil created to embody and connect with Persephone in her darker aspect—the Queen who has crossed the threshold, descended into the Underworld, and returned transformed.

This is not Persephone solely as Kore, the maiden gathering flowers in the meadow. This oil honors Persephone as Queen of the Underworld: sovereign, initiated, powerful, and intimately acquainted with the mysteries of death, rebirth, descent, and return.

Created primarily as a deity oil, Dark Persephone can be used to deepen devotional practice, invoke Persephone's presence and energy, dress offerings and altar tools, anoint candles, or embody her current within ritual and spellwork. It is intended to carry the atmosphere of her chthonic aspect—the pomegranate, the earth below, the throne beside Hades, and the woman who emerges from darkness changed by what she has encountered there.

Fragrance

Dark Persephone opens with a rich, tart pomegranate accord, blending two different interpretations of the fruit to create something deeper and more complex than simple sweetness.

Dark fig and plum deepen the pomegranate into something ripe, red and almost wine-like before giving way to white jasmine and neroli. Beneath the fruit and florals lies a darker foundation of oud, tonka, suede, smoke, cypress, moss, incense and patchouli.

The result is dark fruit, ancient woods, smoke and flowers—sensual and feminine without becoming overly sweet.

Imagine a pomegranate split open on an altar beneath the earth, its ruby seeds scattered beside burning incense and flowers left for a queen.

Ritual Ingredients

Each bottle is ritually prepared with herbs and curios selected for their traditional, symbolic, and magical associations with Persephone, the Underworld, transformation, sovereignty, descent, and return, including pomegranate seed and rind.

The ingredients are chosen intentionally to create an oil that functions as more than fragrance. Dark Persephone is formulated as a working devotional and ritual oil designed to carry the symbolism and current of the deity it honors.

How to Use

Anoint candles, petitions, altar tools, deity statues, offerings or ritual objects. Add a small amount to your hands before devotional practice or meditation, or wear as a ritual fragrance when invoking or embodying Persephone's energy.

For transformation or shadow work, anoint a candle or ritual object while naming what is being left behind, what is being encountered in the descent, and what you intend to carry back with you when you rise.

As with all deity work, approach Persephone with respect and allow your own devotional relationship and spiritual practice to guide how the oil is incorporated.
